Senegal stepped onto pedestal in Kigali as they beat Cape Verde 86:73 in the game for the 3rd place.
Senegal managed to win all quarters in the game. They opened it with a narrow 21-18 rally and led 5 points at the halftime. Moreover, Senegal dominated the second half as well and produced two victories. They came up with a 17-13 run in the third quarter and closed the tournament with a final 25-21 rally.
Gorgui Dieng (211-C-90, college: Louisville) top-scored for the winners with 30 points, whilst El Hadji Badio (188-G-99), Mamadou Faye (211-F/C-93) and Youssou Ndoye (213-C-91, college: St.Bonaventure) netted 11 each. Alga Ndiaye ended up with 9 points in the winning effort. Walter Tavares (220-C-92) replied with 18 points in a loss and Joel Almeida (195-F-85, college: Brockport St.) poured in 17.
